Jerry Day returns to Melbourne in 2023 for the ultimate celebration of the music of Jerry Garcia at Kindred Bandroom, Footscray.
This years event will pay homage to three of Garcia's most significant musical projects: The Grateful Dead, Old & in the Way and The Jerry Garcia Band.
Featuring:
Deadnecks play The Grateful Dead.
Deadnecks return to Jerry Day, taking Garcia's most iconic music and using it as a vehicle for their expansive jams rooted in psychedelic rock, blues, country and jazz.
Fresh off the back of their 5 hour marathon appearance at the final ever Boogie Festival, where they recreated the Dead's classic Bickershaw 72' performance plus a bonus set of disco Dead. Deadnecks are the only band in town that can get close to the explorative nature of The Grateful Dead's music.
The group recently featured as the backing band for US singer songwriter M.Ward on his Australian tour earlier this year, and appeared at last years Out On the Weekend festival performing A Celebration of Neil Young's Harvest with an all star line up.
The Westside locals are keen to bring their energetic and expansive repertoire of The Grateful Dead songbook back to Kindred Studios for Jerry Day 2023.
Collingwood Casanovas play Old and in the Way
Hopeless romantics The Collingwood Casanovas bring their red hot finger pickin & sweet vocal harmonies to Jerry Day. Performing songs played by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman's seminal bluegrass project Old & in the Way.
Having recently pulled off shows such as a recreation of the Grammy award winning O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack alongside Tracey Ann Miller, Freya Josephine Hollick and Loretta Miller, plus a number of notable festival appearances. These legends have proven thier chops with their authentic sound rooted in traditional country and bluegrass music that is sure to get those toes tappin'.

Coming together for the first and only ever time, past and present members of Deadnecks + friends form The Magnificent Sanctuary Band. Bringing you renditions from Garcia's most beloved side project The Jerry Garcia Band. Be sure to catch them at Jerry Day Melbourne as this could be the only time you ever hear JGB classics performed live!
