About this Event
Baltimore’s buildings and spaces (the built environment) often disappear. Some are lost to neglect, justifiably, and others not. Some are even removed by mistake! It might be surprising to learn that these structures that took so much effort to build are so often “at risk”. Before we know it, they become “Dead Buildings Standing”.
Baltimore-based architect Jerome Gray is a founding member of Baltimore SketchWorks, a group of local architects who use sketching to advocate for the city's architectural heritage and future. Jerome Gray curates the Instagram feed @jcgarch which exposes often untold building histories with architectural sketches. The talk will be informal and shine a light on:
1. Who created these buildings?
2. What are the past and current uses?
3. When were they created?
4. Why where they erected, and why do they contribute to the built environment?
5. Where are they located?
Where is it happening?
