Jeph Jerman (Hands To, Big Joey, Blowhole) performs Albuquerque for the first time since 2018! The Cottonwood, Arizona-based sound investigator and diffuser documents natural and unnatural objects—whether it’s plant life in the Coconino National Forest, the desert highlands of northern Arizona, or abandoned humanmade silos—and articulates sounds through devices in various states of rot and malfunction, some of which he builds himself. Jerman’s life in sound (which includes hundreds of releases on worldwide labels as well as his own imprints) and his prolific visual components affixed to his releases are celebrated in Listen: Jeph Jerman in Conversation with Aram Yardumian (Errant Bodies Press), a 2023 book that also dives deep into the 1980s home recording and exchange scene in which Jerman was an integral contributor. He'll perform a solo piece to one of his never-before-screened films—featuring static and decaying shots in some of the landscapes where he creates—before teaming with Albuquerque’s Steve Jansen (not Steve Jansen from Japan, not Japan the country) for a two-in-one set. Sound alchemist and Santa Fe Noise Ordinance co-conspirator Luna Galassini opens.
