Jenny Lester is veteran multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who has established herself as an important member of the bluegrass and traditional folk scene in Canada. Her original songs are carefully crafted in the bluegrass convention while at the same time displaying a contemporary freshness and vitality that breathes new life into the fabled "high lonesome" sound. Beginning on the fiddle at age eight with her family's Driftwood Canyon Family Band out of Smithers, Lester has played with the likes of John Reischman in Vancouver, Yukon-based Hungry Hill, and leading her own trio. Lester is now based in the Comox Valley and continues to teach and perform all over.
Denman Island’s Tai McGillivray also began performing at an early age. At only 18 he's already adept on guitar, fiddle and bass, but his main instrument is the mandolin. McGillivray has grown up playing at open mics, jams & bluegrass festivals, and has had the chance to play and learn from some great musicians over the years. His main teachers and influences have been Kevin Mitchell, Marc Atkinson, John Reischman, Mike Marshall, Jacob Jolliff, and Jenny Lester.
