The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library invites you to join the conversation with Jenna Tang, translator of Fang Si-Chi's First Love Paradise a novel originally written by Taiwanese author, Lin Yi-Han. Originally by Lin Yi-Han, Fang Si-Chi's First Love Paradise is one of the most iconic works of Taiwan's #MeToo movement. It offers a heartbreaking account of sexual violence and a remarkable reinvention of the trauma plot, turning the traditional Lolita narrative upside down as it explores women's vulnerability, victimization, and the lengths they will go to survive.
This book will feature Jenna Tang sharing her insights on the book, with the discussion moderated by Dr. Shana Ye, Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies in the Department of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough and in the Women an Gender Studies Institute of the University of Toronto.
