Jemima & the Fuse are an experimental, alternative folk band who create an enveloping and surprising tapestry of sound. Ethereal songs are layered with grit, tenderness, mischief and wisdom and are carried on a bed of intricate and transporting percussion and strings, evoking highland landscapes, the underworld and transformation. For many years Jemima has been collaborating with Tim Lane; producer and founding drummer of Hidden Orchestra. Tim's intricate rhythms on tongue drum, kit & crafted samples, provide a bed on which Jemima's powerful yet delicate voice and instrumentation carry you on a wild and hearty ride.
This music is bold and experimental, recognising the folk tradition, yet taking it to a distinctive edge, the effect of which is heart-opening and stays with you long after you have heard it. The duo are often accompanied by collaborators Suz Appelbe on cello and Jem Le Lievre on bass who provide a deeper richness to this complex soundscapes with layers of interwoven musical space and time.
