Saturday, September 20 is National Jelly Roll Quilt Day.
We're celebrating by making jelly roll race quilts in the studio!
This kind of quilt is very beginner friendly and practically math free-my kind of quilting! No "quilt math" involved!
A jelly roll quilt project is meant to be fun and stress-free. We offer the bonus of a positive sew-cial experience, with snacks and soft drinks.
The studio furnishes all the equipment-sewing machines, cutting tables, irons, etc. You need basic beginner machine sewing skills.
Bring the following supplies to make a lap/throw quilt size, approximately 50" x 64".
One 40 piece fabric jelly roll of your choice
3 1/2" yards of fabric for backing
60" x 60" piece of batting-Warm-N-Natural natural cotton is a favorite
Double fold quilt binding-Approximately seven yards or three packages. If you're making your own, please do it ahead of the class time.
Two matching spools of thread and two-three matching bobbins. All-purpose thread is fine for this project, some quilters prefer cotton thread.
Straight pins
You may also bring your own sewing machine if you prefer. We have rotary cutting equipment, seam rippers, etc. but you may bring your own sewing kit!
