Jeff Plankenhorn & Scrappy Jud Newcomb are on the road again—this time across the Southeastern US for the “Motel Alabama 2022” tour. Putting their combined years of performing, recording, writing, singing & songwriting together for an unforgettable show, along with a new album showcasing the style of these unique and intimate performances.
Plank has been filling the air with his unique blend of Americana, roots, and blues music for decades. He has crisscrossed the world playing thousands of dates, collaborated with everyone from Patty Griffin to Joe Ely, and even created his own instrument The Plank. Plank is an Austin Music Award winner and Black Fret major grant recipient. He has been featured in Vintage Guitar Magazine, KUTX, and Sun Radio.
Plank has performed at the Telluride Americana Festival, Old Settler’s Music Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Big Barn Dance, Islands Folk Festival, Nanaimo Blues Fest, Luckenbach Blues Festival, and Vancouver Island MusicFest. Plank has collaborated with Patty Griffin, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster, Bob Schneider, the Flatlanders, “Scrappy” Jud Newcomb, and more.
Scrappy has been playing music with bands, songwriters and late nighters for the last 33 years. The Loose Diamonds, Ian McLagan and The Bump Band, The Resentments, Slaid Cleaves, Patty Griffin, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Johnny Nicholas, Seela, Beaver Nelson Walter Tragert, Papa Mali, Jenny Reynolds, Snizz and Friends... and many other wild and rare birds.
He has produced records for Slaid cleaves, Jeff Plankenhorn, Johnny Goudie, Beaver Nelson, Jenny Reynolds, Michael Hall and Walter Tragert among others.
He has released four of his own recordings.
His latest "The Third Party" was released Jan. 2019.
He is a guitar player.
