Omaha-based jazz pianist, composer, and educator Jeff Jenkins has recently worked as a professor of music in the Thompson Jazz Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Grounded in a wide range of jazz styles, Jenkins has released seven original CDs in the last 15 years while appearing as a featured player on dozens more. Throughout his career Jenkins has appeared locally, nationally, and internationally in festivals and clubs with his eponymous ensembles or as a guest artist with jazz greats including Freddie Hubbard, Eddie Harris, Clark
Terry, the New York Voices, Bubby Hutcherson, and John Abercrombie, among others. A product of the acclaimed jazz program at the University of North Texas, Jenkins continued his piano studies in the New York City studios of Fred
Hirsch, Richie Beirach, and Kenny Barron. Based in Manhattan in the 1980s, Jenkins performed in noted jazz venues throughout the city and appeared as principal pianist for several Broadway musicals (including the original run of Little Shop of Horrors).
A gifted bandleader and in-demand sideman across Nebraska, Colorado, and the western US, Jenkins also mixed and produces musical professionally in his Mixdown Soundrecording studio.
Terri Jo Jenkins
Singer, Songwriter, Educator, Music Festival Director Terri Jo (Dodson) Jenkins has been singing professionally sinceher childhood days growing up in Venango, Nebraska where she toured with her sisters performing at festivals, state & county fairs, churches and local television shows. Terri Jo recorded several records over the years featuring her songwriting and guitar work in the genre of contemporary folk music. She performed across the US & in Canada as a soloist and in concert with
notable singer/songwriters such as the legend Peggy Seeger.
Terri Jo’s musical interests expanded into jazz music with her performances as part of the Nebraska based band, “Jazz Factory” which included appearances at the Jazz in June and Jazz on the Green Festivals among others.
TJ relocated to Colorado in 2009 and immersed herself in the Denver jazz scene singing with the Park Hill Brass nonet which toured to France, the Rocky Mountain Jazz Trio and nationally recognized pianist, Jeff Jenkins. Terri Jo was awarded the Pathways to Jazz grant in 2016 which made it possible to record her first full length jazz album, “From This Moment” which includes some of Colorado’s most recognized jazz musicians. In addition to performing at jazz clubs, festivals, ( including the 5 Points Jazz Festival, Estes Park Jazz Festival, Jazz en Vercour France and
SongBird Vocal Jazz Fest ) Terri Jo has also been featured in concerts for the Gift of Jazz organization in Colorado, the famed jazz club Dazzle in addition to many other clubs and live radio shows. Terri Jo moved back to her home state of Nebraska in 2022 to be near family. She continues to perform jazz as well as Americana & blues music. She continues her work in Colorado as creator and director of the annual SongBird Vocal Jazz Fest in Denver. She also teaches piano and guitar lessons in her Omaha, NE lesson studio.
