It's true that debating experiences are mostly shaped by the people, not the place. But sometimes, some places are lively enough to unconditionally witness and echo our stories. The pillars of St. Joseph have stood for more than 50 years, as its elements have watched its people try this enthralling sport. The monologues of the creaky door of the chess room and the squeaky chalkwriting have accompanied us across generations. The podiums, which have seen legends stutter in their first speech and ignite in their last, the pieces of wriggled papers, and the peach walls we still touch with tender affection are all witnesses of greatness. The show of greatness was never limited to us alone. Our home has also witnessed riveting performances from debaters who have graced this place with their bold presence in past tournaments. It has hosted some of the most competitive events in the history of our circuit. Honestly, it has been a while—long enough to realize that both the place and its people have missed the eloquent battles of debaters.
So, after a hiatus of 5 years, the oldest and first ever school debating club in Bangladesh, Josephite Debating Club (JDC), is ready to welcome you back for another edition of its signature tournament, JDC Eloquence 2024.
