Jazzmeia Horn has been held in the highest regards since she was young. She has received compliments from famous colleagues such as Al Jarreau and John Hendricks. She has been compared to legendary singers such as Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, as well as to successful contemporaries such as Gregory Porter and Cécile McLorin Salvant. Her recent album Dear Love is another convincing statement, with phenomenal vocals, scats and spoken word. Dear Love was nominated for a Grammy.
With her new music, Jazzmeia Horn takes matters into her own hands. She recorded Dear Love with her own big band Noble Force. The album was released on her own label Empress Legacy Records. Alongside virtuosic renditions of standards like ‘He’s My Guy’ and ‘Lover Come Back to Me’, the album contains her own compositions. She wrote the arrangements herself, drawing experience from her collaborations with, among others, the WDR Big Band and the Metropole Orkest.
