Between Berlin and São Paulo, a microphone and a record collection, Marie Kühn has been following her passion for Bossa Nova and Samba Jazz. The pianist Thibault Falk is a very active member of the Berlin jazz scene. Together, the duo explore the deep blue of Brazilian music and the stories behind and set out for hidden gems by composers such as Johnny Alf, João Donato or Tânia Maria.
For this JazzHive session, Azulão team up with Fofo Black and Franzi Aller:
Fofo Black aka Nataniel Assunção is a drummer, percussionist, and researcher of cultures. His work focusses on Brazilian music and the rhythms of the Northeast. Having moved to Rio de Janeiro from São Luis do Maranhão, he is currently spending some days in Berlin for the first time after touring Europe with flutist Carlos Malta's project "Pife Muderno".
Franzi Aller is a versatile bass player with experience in various musical styles who brings a distinctive depth to any ensemble. She has worked with musicians such as Tony Lakatos, Quique Sinesi, Vinicius Gomes, Steve Nanda, Matheus Jardim. Franzi released her single "No Home" in September 2024.
