Jazz Memorial for Keith Ingham

Jazz pianist Keith Ingham passed away February 1, 2026 in New York, days before his 88th birthday. Born in London, Keith devoted his life to classic jazz, spending every afternoon at the Swing Shop, Dick Carey’s record store in Streatham, UK. After studies at Oxford and establishing his career in Britain, he moved to New York (ca. 1978) and became a beloved presence on the jazz scene.
In the US, he arranged and accompanied dozens of artists including Maxine Sullivan, Peggy Lee, Benny Goodman, Ruby Braff and Susannah McCorkle, Marty Grosz, Bob Reitmeier, Dick Sudhalter, Harry Allen, Bobby Gordon, Bud Freeman, Barbara Lee, Bob Barnard, Judi Marie Canterino and Cynthia Sayer. Keith attended scores of Jazz Festivals in the US and Canada bringing deep musical knowledge, elegance and wit to every performance.
Beyond the bandstand he was a storyteller, historian and generous collaborator. Those who heard him play or shared a stage with him will remember the warmth and swing he brought to the music.
In later life, Keith produced and arranged cds for several New York legends including Paul Bacon, Arlene (Kamens) Keith, Jo Marquezi, Sharon Paige, Joyce Deyo, Nora Cavin, Rick Bogart and many others. Most recently he collaborated on cartoons and films with partner and best friend, Sharon Fogarty.
Keith is survived by two sons, Alexander and Gareth, grandchildren Frankie, Jake, Arianna and Finlay.
He is deeply missed.
