Aria Award winning composer and saxophonist, Jeremy Rose is performing with his stellar Quartet (Steve Barry – piano + Noel Mason – bass + Alex Hirlian – drums) at Tuggeranong Arts Centre on Saturday 31 August at 7pm.Jeremy won the Aria Award for Best Jazz Album last year, for his album Nightjar. Recorded with one of his musical outfits The Vampires, this album was described by the Sydney Morning Herald as “Riveting improvisations from one of our best composers” and Rhythms Music Magazine as “State-of-the-art acoustic jazz, impeccably performed, sanguine in nature, brimming with hope.”
Known for his wide breadth of work, gift for vibrant melody and musical curiosity. Rose also records and gigs with The Earshift Orchestra, Vazesh, Visions of Nar and Project Infinity.
But, the Jeremy Rose Quartet is the cornerstone of his career. With four critically acclaimed releases exploring his compositional ideas in a contemporary jazz context, his group features musicians Steve Barry (piano), Noel Mason (bass, The Vampires) and Alex Hirlian (drums, Brekky Boyo) and their recorded releases include Face to Face, Within and Without Feat, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Sand Lines and Chiba.

As a director of Earshift Music, Rose has fostered a community of creative musicians and an internationally renowned label for Australian contemporary jazz which NYC Jazz Records describes as “hell bent on pushing the very definition of jazz,” and Sydney Morning Herald describes as “Australia’s most significant outlet for jazz-related music.” The label celebrated 15 years in 2024 with over 90 releases.
