Ellington, Basie & Rich.
The band would like to dedicate this show to the late Bill Dabbs
who was the music co–ordinator at Jazz Fremantle for many years. He was a great supporter of our music and such a fantastic bloke to chat to and get to know – we all miss you Bill.
Straight Ahead has much pleasure in presenting the undisputed
giants of big band jazz, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Buddy
Rich! Their repertoire includes so many iconic jazz instrumentals
and swinging vocal hits it’s impossible to mention them all here!
Suffice to say we’ll be playing some of their most well–known
numbers including Satin Doll, Take The A Train, One O’Clock
Jump, All Of Me, Critic’s Choice,etc. Don’t miss this afternoon of swinging big band jazz with the guys and gals of Straight Ahead playing with so much heart and soul we think you will love it and want to join in!!
Straight Ahead – The Big Band is an 18 piece big band directed
by saxophonist Paul Millard featuring Perth’s leading jazz
musicians playing classic jazz arrangements from the early Swing
Era through to contemporary swing, Latin, funk and blues!
