This concert brings together CWRU’s Jazz Ensemble I & II and Trombone Ensemble for an evening of dynamic big band and small-group jazz, featuring a special appearance by acclaimed trombonist Chris Anderson. The program spans a wide range of styles and traditions—from Brazilian jazz and Ellington classics to modern works and reimagined standards—showcasing the artistry, versatility, and collaborative spirit of CWRU’s jazz musicians.• Paul Ferguson, Director
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Chris Anderson is one of today’s leading jazz trombonists and educators. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, he performs regularly with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and other regional ensembles and serves on the faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory. He is also the founder of Open Tone Music, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality music education and performance opportunities throughout Northeast Ohio.
