Believing in the next generation, the Jazz Discovery Series (JDS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is on a mission to bring jazz back to Jacksonville—empowering rising talent, captivating audiences, and building a legacy of music, education, and opportunity.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with an unforgettable night of jazz featuring Julia Danielle Smulson, a dynamic vocalist, arranger, composer, and educator based in Chicago and New York. The 2022 International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition Winner, Julia, has led her band at notable venues and festivals, including Blues Alley Jazz Club, Chris’ Jazz Café, The Jazz Showcase, and The Hyde Park Jazz Fest. Her debut album, released in November 2024, has been praised for its fresh sound and unique interpretation. Currently pursuing a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School, she continues to refine her artistry while collaborating with celebrated jazz artists, including Charanee Wade, Kenny Washington, Marc Cary, Donald Vega, and Isaiah Thompson.
