Join Therese for six weeks of Solo Jazz and discover different ways to move, groove, and express yourself.
Before “modern jazz” became the style commonly known today, people were dancing socially to jazz music. These jazz dances formed inside Black American communities and were part of their social dance culture. In this series, we’ll explore some of these dances and aesthetics that form part of the foundations of jazz dance.
Across the series, we’ll play with combinations, short choreographies, and ways to social dance. We'll explore ways of connecting with your body, develop your movement vocabulary, and create space to express yourself.
These are open-level classes aimed at people with some dance experience. If you’re keen to have fun on a Friday night, come and join us.
