The band was formed 32 years ago by trumpet player Bob Netting and was known as Capt Bob’s Station House Seven. Following the passing of “Capt Bob” Netting in June 2023, the band has continued as the Station House Seven.
The band is as popular as ever, drawing appreciative crowds for their appearances recently at the Merimbula Jazz Festival. Expect to hear foot-tapping “hot” New Orleans style Dixieland jazz delivered in style by a collection of fine musicians.
The line-up on this occasion will feature regular members Gordon Brown on piano, Colin Davies on bass, and Bob Porter on reeds. Joining them will be popular Canberra locals Tony Thomas on trumpet, Jim Styles on banjo and Owen Cooper on trombone plus our favourite drummer from the South Coast, Ian Hill.
For lovers of classic Dixieland jazz, rarely heard these days, you don’t want to miss a performance by the Station House Seven!
Jazz at Jamison is presented in partnership with the Canberra Southern Cross Club.
Note that members of the CJC enjoy reserved seating closer to the band.
