Jay Carroll (piano)
Jay Jameil Carroll is a Manchester-born pianist and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where he studied with both Sally Ann Macleod and Kathryn Stott, graduating with First Class Honours and Distinction. During his time in the college he won both the Nossek Prize and Cronshaw/Brownson Song Prize, and in 2021 he won Best Accompanist in the Courtney Kenny Song Prize. He had the privilege of receiving lessons from visiting tutors such as Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and Phillipe Cassard, as well as having the opportunity to work intimately with the world-renowned piano trios: Trio Gaspard and Trio Karenine.
Jay is also an accomplished chamber musician and since graduating has enjoyed an ongoing collaboration with violinist Mollie Wrafter (Feis Ceoil Winner 2022) with whom he has performed across England and Ireland in venues such as Blackwater Castle and the Royal Dublin Society. In addition, he also enjoys collaborating with the Treske Quartet, of which Mollie Wrafter is a part of, and together they will be performing works by Dvorak, Shostakovich and Westlake in the coming season. Jay is a versatile musician with an eclectic music taste which has seen him take part in projects such as the UK Premiere of the cabaret 'It's In the Air!' (2022) in which he was assistant musical director and working under Harvey Brough in the 2022 production of the new opera 'The Hive'.
