Seattle’s Jaws of Brooklyn emerged during the 2020 pandemic, blending 60's garage rock and soul with modern songwriting. Their debut album, “The Shoals” (produced by Alabama Shakes’ keyboardist and 2024 Grammy award-winning producer Ben Tanner) was recorded in Florence, Alabama, and released in 2022. The album earned them critical acclaim with Billboard calling them “impressive” and American Songwriter stating, “The Jaws of Brooklyn are set to chart a new course.”
The Jaws of Brooklyn, now a seven-piece live act, set about winning the hearts and minds of the Pacific Northwest and beyond with their punchy vocal harmonies and high-energy performances including 2023 SXSW and Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party. After performing at 2023’s Capitol Hill Block Party the band parted ways with their lead vocalist. In 2024, Jaws of Brooklyn saw a pivotal change with the addition of powerhouse vocalist Gretchen Lemon, revitalizing the lineup of Dana Dysart (keys), Bryan Cohen (guitar), Paul Christofferson (bass), and Zia Uddin (drums). With renewed energy, they returned to Florence, Alabama, to record 15 new songs with Ben Tanner producing. The recordings feature a return of background all-star vocalists, Shanay Johnson (Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard, Roger Waters) and Karita Law (Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard) to round out the sound and expand their recording sonic explorations.
Full of retro guitars, soul-inspired rhythms, anthemic choruses, and 60’s girl group vocals, the Jaws released their 7 song EP “Crush on You” in April of 2025 to great reviews as KUT-FM even made the first single LiteBringer their song of the day writing - “Litebringer” has our mouth watering for what’s to come from The Jaws of Brooklyn...”
With a new fantastic singer in place and new music released, the Jaws of Brooklyn hit stages across the Pacific Northwest, selling out the historic Sunset, Baba Yaga and getting into Fisherman’s Village, Brodie Nation, Ballard Seafood Festival, Bumbershoot and SXSW 2025. In addition to playing across the region, The Jaws of Brooklyn received airplay on 20 stations across the country including being added to rotation on Seattle’s KEXP. The Jaws plan to head to New York on a 5 stop tour this summer, then head east to play Boise and Spokane culminating the year with their first co-headlining show at the historic Tractor in Seattle.
In 2026 The Jaws of Brooklyn are planning to release their next EP entitled “Unstoppable” in the Spring and have their sights set on a California tour and a UK tour to support the new release.
