SPANISH CLASSICAL GUITAR MAESTRO!

Javier Garcia Verdugo visits Smith's on his way to the International Guitar Competition in Adelaide. The tour is supported by the Artistas Interpretes o Ejucatantes.
A disciple of the great guitar masters Ricardo Gallén and Eliot Fisk, Javier has also received lessons from other great guitar names such as Leo Brouwer and David Russell. In 2015, he finished the Musical Performance Higher Degree with honors at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and receiving the Special Degree Prize. During 2014 he lived in Weimar, Germany, to study at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt. In 2015 he moved to Salzburg, Austria, where he studied with the highest grades the Master of Musical Interpretation at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
Javier has been awarded in more than a dozen international competitions, among which are: The Spanish Youth Musician Prize (2014), First Prize at the Gredos de San Diego International Guitar Competition (2014), First Prize at the Havana International Guitar Competition (2018) and “Leo Brouwer” Prize at the International Competition “Andrés Segovia” (2020). Javier is considered as one of the most promising figures on the current guitar scene.
In 2017, his solo album “Impresiones” was awarded as “Disco Melómano de Oro” by the music magazine Melómano. His discography consists of 4 albums: “DESIDERATUM” (2015), “Impresiones” (2017), “Primo Tempo” (2020) and “Invocación y danza” (2021).
Javier is a Mediaset Spain Group artist, for which he has participated in several productions. His television appearances include his performances for the “Musical Cities” program of Telecinco, a tribute to the guitarist Paco de Lucía for Castilla-La Mancha TV and a production for RTVE in collaboration with Sony.
His performances cover a large part of the Spanish geography, part of Europe, the United States (Washington DC, Los Angeles, Malibu and New Orleans), Rusia (Moscow) and Cuba (La Habana). They are held in places such as National Theatre of Havana in Cuba, Zeneakademia Ferenc Liszt of Budapest in Hungary, Liszthaus Konzertsaal of Weimar in Germany or Mozarteum Solitarsaal of Salzburg in Austria, among others. As an orchestra soloist he has performed alongside conductors such as Albert Gonzálvez Cardós, Antonio Navarro Borsi and Mariano Domingo.
He also performed alongside the OSCyL with conductor Eliahu Inbal. In the field of chamber music, Javier regularly plays in chamber groups, among which the duo Primo Tempo with clarinetist Carlos Orobón, the duo with baritone Javier Recio and the duo with soprano Natalia Labourdette.
Javier plays with a guitar made by Paulino Bernabé and he is sponsored by the AIE and by Knobloch Strings.
