This isn’t Jason Isbell’s first visit to Sioux City. He previously headlined the renowned Saturday in the Park (SITP) music festival in 2018, an event known for bringing top-tier talent to the region. Joining the ranks of past headliners like Earth, Wind & Fire, The Avett Brothers, and Aretha Franklin, Isbell’s performance at SITP solidified his place among the country’s most celebrated artists.
Isbell’s rise to prominence began in 2001 when he became the lead singer of Drive-By Truckers, contributing significantly to three of the band’s albums, including Decoration Day (2003), The Dirty South (2004), and A Blessing and a Curse (2006).
In 2009, Isbell released his debut album with The 400 Unit, followed by their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Here We Rest, in 2011. His song "Alabama Pines" earned the prestigious title of Song of the Year at the 2012 Americana Music Awards.
The band's breakout success came in 2017 with The Nashville Sound, which won both the Grammy for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Song. Jason Isbell has since earned six Grammy Awards throughout his career, including three for Best Americana Album. The Nashville Sound was also nominated for Album of the Year in 2017.
