Jared Alan Yoakem, a pianist extraordinaire ✨ and doctoral candidate 📚 at University of Maryland, will be traveling to Martinsville, VA in a few short weeks. He has played all over and studied music in some of the top programs on the East Coast. Not to mention, he will serve as a collaborative artist for the HCPS 10th anniversary VIVO Collaborative, “Kingdom Animalia,” 🌎 leading the famous Carnival of the Animals from the piano. April 13 will be an afternoon of Beethoven, Chopin, and more…come and be inspired and enlightened while supporting Da Capo VA along the way. SUGGESTED DONATION: $20/person
All About Jared:
JARED ALAN YOAKEM is a pianist from Grand Rapids, MI. As a recitalist, he is in demand in the Southeast US, having recently performed at American University, Brevard College, Radford University, Wake Forest University, among others. As a collaborative artist, he has performed with National ACDA, Castleton Festival, Classical Singers Music Magazine, NATS, the National Orpheus Competition, and numerous choral projects that include two national PBS broadcasts at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN. He has been awarded with the Dean’s Advisory Council Award for outstanding achievement in music from his Alma Mater, Belmont University, in 2019.
Mr. Yoakem is currently a Class Piano Instructor at the University of Maryland, and has piano studios in Charlotte, NC and College Park, MD. In addition to teaching, he is Artistic Administrator at the Castleton Festival. Prior appointments include staff pianist at Belmont University and Montgomery Bell Academy for Boys, and piano faculty at the Cary School of Music.
He is in pre-candidacy for the DMA Piano Performance program at the University of Maryland at College Park, studying under Mayron Tsong. Prior degrees are from Belmont University & East Carolina University, where he worked with Elena Bennett and Kwan Yi. He has attended the Collaborative Piano Institute at Louisiana State University, the Leon Fleisher Academy, and Vivace Music Foundation. He has participated in masterclasses by Stanislav Ioudenitch, Julian Martin, Anne-Marie McDermott, and Robert McDonald.
