Jared L. Cohon Student Seminar Series with Miguel Martin

Dr. Miguel Martin is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Delft University of Technology and a visiting scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, sponsored by the European Commission. Before his postdoctoral fellowship, he spent seven years conducting research in Singapore, where he earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore. He also has two years of research experience in the United Arab Emirates, during which he collaborated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

During the Scott Institute Student Seminar on February 26, 2025, Dr. Miguel Martin plans to present his current research on simulating interactions between buildings and their outdoor environment. This topic is crucial for determining how to reduce energy consumption in buildings, improve thermal comfort in the outdoor built environment, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions in cities.

Based on the results of his research, he aims to inform the scientific community, policy makers, and industry leaders about the best strategies for developing climate-neutral and smart cities.
