Japanese Theatrical Physical Codes Workshop

Join us Sunday, November 15 at 10am for a FREE workshop with Izumi Ashizawa on Japanese theatrical physical codes.
About this Event

Based on Japanese physical performance techniques, this workshop will practice body-oriented routine exercises based on Japanese physical acting techniques and philosophy. In the first part of the workshop, students will learn hands-on techniques, routines, and the philosophy of Japanese traditional code “kata”. In the second part of the workshop, Ashizawa examines how she reinterprets and reframes traditional codes, using examples from her work, "Kurogo Me, Together!". The participants who see "Kurogo Me, Together!" during the Fringe Festival will benefit the most out of this workshop.
