Japanese Tea Ceremony (Cha No Yu) - Northern Contemporary Gallery
About this Event
Reina Sakao, known as Madame Matcha from Montreal, will be in Toronto on October 25th to offer a special Japanese tea ceremony in collaboration with Northern Contemporary Gallery!
Cha No Yu offers an opportunity to pause, appreciate the beauty of the present moment, and reconnect with ourselves and others. We hope to share a deeper appreciation of Japanese culture through this immersive experience. No matter where you come from or what you do, Cha No Yu invites you to slow down, be present, and discover your own moment of zen.
During this Japanese Tea Ceremony, you will:
- Be guided by Reina Sakao, a 1st-degree Urasenke tea instructor who comes from a fourth-generation Japanese tea family.
- Discover the meaning and philosophy behind Cha No Yu (茶の湯), "Way of Tea".
- Participate and learn the different steps and rituals of traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
- Explore the Zen principles and concepts deeply rooted in Cha No Yu.
- Learn proper tea ceremony etiquette, including what to do and what to avoid as a guest.
- Enjoy authentic matcha from Kyoto, paired with Japanese sweets called wasanbon (和三盆) traditionally served in Japanese tea ceremonies.
Purchase of Sakao's matcha products will be available after the event.
Come join us for a mindful, cultural experience to slow down, reconnect, and discover the beauty of Japanese tradition and the present moment! Looking forward to seeing you!
