Experience the art and mindfulness of Japanese tea ceremony (chado) in this immersive workshop led by certified tea instructor Rie Sokei Morita and a relaxing sound bath meditation with Shawna Bebbling. This three-part class includes understanding a Japanese Tea Ceremony, learning how to make your own personal "tea ceremony" for ritually drinking tea for yourself + meditating in a sound bath.
The first half begins with a presentation exploring the philosophy and aesthetics of chado — including concepts like presence, impermanence, and the harmony between host and guest. We'll also look at the tea room and utensils, each designed to cultivate stillness and intention. A Q&A session follows.
In the second half, a live tea demonstration will be performed, and each participant will have the opportunity to whisk their own bowl of matcha. Japanese sweets will also be served. These first two parts are led by Rie Sokei Morita. Learn more: www.wabichaclass.com
We will end class with a 30 minute sound bath using all the wisdom and energy of the tea to go internal. Sound bath led by Shawna Bebbling.
