Introduction to the Nihon Buyo Workshop
This workshop will provide basic history/origins of Japanese Classical Dance. And, You will then learn how to walk and correctly control your feet, hands and head whilst using traditional props such as fans. Please bring your Yukata and tabi, if you have them. If you don't, we would like to ask you to wear clean socks, and comfortable exercise clothing. At the end of the class, you will be able to perform a complete dance to a traditional song. Each class will be 60 - 90 min.
Instructor Bio:
Tae Komai started learning Japanese Buyou Dance at the Hanayagi School since the age of 8. The Hanayagi School is one of the five main dance schools in Japan. She has also studied jazz, hip hop, hula, and other forms of dance. She combines traditional and new styles of choreography in her dances in an innovative way. She has performed her beautiful dance in various occasions and has taught Japanese Buyou Dance for people of all ages.
