Born from a moment of cultural and economic optimism, Japanese city pop blended jazz-funk, soft rock, disco, soul, and shimmering synths into something uniquely Japanese — sophisticated yet sentimental, nostalgic yet full of possibility.

Music made for night drives, ocean views, cocktail bars, and moments suspended in time.

For this special session, Joel from Rathdowne Records takes over the room with a curated vinyl selection spanning classics, deep cuts, and personal favourites gathered through years of collecting Japanese records beyond the algorithm.

Whether you discovered citypop through late-night YouTube recommendations, lo-fi playlists, or a love of Japanese music culture, this is an evening to settle in and experience it properly — on vinyl.
