Japanese Art inspired Gelli Plate Printing & Collage workshop with Lisa Tank

This workshop is suitable for beginners or anyone who would like to spend time experimenting with paint and printing and will introduce you to the delights of simple printing without a press using Gelli Plates.
This workshop will also incorporate collage (using the prints we make), stencils and stamps, washi tape and other provided inspiring materials to make cards and a bigger piece to take away with you.
In this fun and vibrant workshop, we will spend time learning the basic techniques of rolling out acrylic paint on to the Gelli plate and making prints on paper. You will be shown how to use a variety of techniques and stencils and botanicals (leaves, flowers, grasses, feathers etc) to produce beautiful and interesting prints on different types of paper.
We will then be using our prints to create Japanese Art inspired collages. I recently visited a wonderful exhibition of Japanese wood cut prints and was inspired to create some artwork of my own. The vibrant colour, and beautiful shapes of Japanese art and ceramics plus the cherry blossom, fans, lanterns and architecture motifs make wonderful use of our prints incorporated with collage.
We will make some cards and a bigger collaged piece either on mount board (to be framed under glass later if you wish) or on cradled panel (provided).
About the tutor: Lisa is an experienced artist and workshop tutor. Her workshops are always fun and vibrant and students learn technique as well as enjoying the process. All her workshops are suitable from beginners or more intermediate levels.
