Did you know that SCT has 6 managed properties? Join us for our series of Wild Walks led by an SCT team member. These casual walks will offer a short introduction with the history and specifics about the property followed by a 1-2 hour walk depending on the size of the property.
This month we are visiting Morgan Grove. This 60-acre property near the Flint River in east Fayette County gives visitors a first-hand glimpse of a retired working forest with an adjacent bottomland habitat. The Southern Conservation Trust enhances the site based on the property’s land management history. SCT established part of the nature area as a site for the public to view forestry best management practices. Morgan Grove Nature Area showcases both natural succession and active management. A small network of trails winds through the natural successional areas, young pine forest, and bottomland forest near Gay Creek. Bring your binoculars, close-toed shoes, water, and bug repellant.
Online registration is required. Price: Non-members $5/person, Members: FREE. We will meet at the kiosk at the trailhead at 181 Morgan Road Fayetteville, GA 30215
