Due to the New Year's holiday our monthly "First" Thursday meetup for January is shifting to the SECOND Thursday (1/9).Please join us at the Beer Temple on Thursday January 9th for a fun, free event:
10 years ago, a group of Chicago homebrewers (many CBS Members) collaborated with BeerFX and Skalawag Productions on a project to document the inception and creation of a home-brewed barrel aged imperial brown ale.
This nearly 2 year long project included eight brew days, four tastings, blending & packaging sessions, numerous brewer and distiller interviews, and a trip to the bourbon trail to retrieve a freshly dumped Angel's Envy port-finished bourbon barrel.
Along the way, film crews were capturing each step of the process to create a ~30 minute documentary. The resulting film, Barrel Aged, debuted at a premiere & beer festival to celebrate the finished project: https://chicagoist.com/2014/12/15/barrel_aged_fine_beer_people_and_fi.php

We're now a decade past the film's premiere, and down to the last few bottles in existence, so we're getting together many of the folks involved in the project for a special "10th Anniversary" screening & tasting.
The screening will take place in the back room of the Beer Temple via their projector system shortly after the meetup begins at 8pm.
Many attendees arrive early to grab a drink from the Beer Temple's always impressive taplist prior to the beginning of the meetup & bottle share.
