About this Event
Save the Last Dance: Exploring Conservation and Management of Sage-Grouse in Colorado
What bird in Colorado has a chucky, round body, small head, large tail, and an elaborate mating dance? The sage-grouse! Come learn about the Gunnison sage grouse, a species listed on the Endangered Species Act and its larger cousin the greater sage-grouse. Both species are found here in Colorado. Learn about their life history and the social and political (just a bit?) issues with their conservation and management.
Kathy Griffin is the Grouse Conservation Program Manager for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. For the past 13 years she has been immersed in the world of sage-grouse conservation across the west. Kathy received a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Humboldt State University in California, a M.S. in Wildlife Management from Washington State University, and a Ph.D. from University of Montana.
