Greetings and Happy New Year Multihullers! Our January meeting will be a field trip to the shop of Raptor Deck, where proprietor Dan Kaseler will give us a hands on tutorial about templating and applying Raptor Deck’s EVA foam deck covering. I think this material is useful for a lot more than just a non skid. I use it on my boat to make surfaces warmer, quieter and more resistant to dings and cracks from impact. Dan will provide a hands on demo of how to pattern and apply Raptor Deck and will answer questions about the material. After the presentation, we will walk up to Vince's house and enjoy some drink and snacks.
The meeting will start at 6:30 P.M. in the evening, on Tuesday January 7, 2025 at the Raptor Deck shop, which is located at 6317 Seaview Ave. NW, Seattle WA 98107.
Our Presenter, Dan Kaseler, is a sailing polymath. Most recently, he sailed his Jesperson 30 Myrrh, to a second place overall in the Round the County race. Myrrh is a remarkable boat, originally built by Eric Jesperson for his own use. Eric won the ‘98 Swiftsure overall with Myrrh, and the Van Isle in her class twice. Dan is also converting a derelict Melges 32 to a racer/camp cruiser with a cabin, a Bieker retractable drive, and some sweet Jim Betts paint. He has also been rebuilding a ___ foot inboard motor boat which he has used to commute from Bainbridge Island to Shilshole. Dan can do composite work, engine work and if that is not enough—he has an extensive background in sail making, primarily in the world of windsurfing. Dan has also sailed on multihulls—he did two Round the County Races on Blue Steel, Nigel Oswald’s F32 RX, once finishing second overall in elapsed time only to the TP 52 Braveheart. Dan has a wealth of knowledge about the sailing world, and is happy to share it with us.
The meeting and demonstration will be streamed on Zoom. Visit https://northwestmultihull.org for details.
