Join us for an evening of music, community, and giving back. All proceeds will go to support Jamaica in the wake of the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, via the American Friends of Jamaica and One Love Brigade.
Why This Matters
On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in southern Jamaica as a Category 5 storm โ the most powerful hurricane ever recorded to hit the island.
With sustained winds reaching 185 mph, Melissa unleashed catastrophic damage, uprooting roofs, knocking out power across much of the country, and triggering extreme flooding and landslides.
The storm struck particularly hard in western parishes like St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland, leaving entire communities underwater, homes destroyed, and thousands displaced.
More than 90,000 households are estimated to have been affected, and infrastructure across the island โ including roads, hospitals, and homes โ took a serious hit.
The stormโs slow movement over the island exacerbated rainfall, triggering deadly mudslides and widespread flooding.
In the aftermath, Jamaica is also confronting a public health crisis: floodwaters have triggered a leptospirosis outbreak, a bacterial disease spread through contaminated water, putting already vulnerable communities at higher risk.
