Jakhari Smith Plays Amatoria + Abridged by KVIE

Sacramento, join us July 24th to welcome Jakhari Smith to liven the store with music and conversation.

Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and social issues, Jakhari Smith's music is a captivating blend of raw emotions and thought-provoking storytelling. His warm, powerful poetry backed up by live band connects him to his audiences in a uniquely intimate way.

After his set, Jakhari will sit down with KVIE's own Natachi Mez for a Q&A where they will chat about poetry, reading and the Sac hip hop scene. Natachi Mez is a Nigerian-Igbo American spoken word poet, emcee, and teaching artist based in Sacramento. She works as an Abridged Community Reporter for PBS KVIE, producing stories and interactive experiences that celebrate local joy, community voice, and culture.

So stick around to meet the artist, enjoy refreshments, and browse amazing books on the arts.

Important Event Notes:

Doors! Doors open at 6:00 but will close at 6:30pm! This is a filmed event and to ensure no disruption, we unfortunately cannot accommodate late entrance.

Seating! This is a small space and seating will be a mix of chairs and standing room. If you will require a chair, reach out to the store with your reservation.

Parking + Bike Rack! We now have our own bike rack right out front of the store. If you are driving, there is plenty of neighborhood parking available.

Filming! This is a filmed event that will be the property of KVIE and shared on the Abridged platform. The focus will be on the artists and the interviewer, but all concert guests may appear on film. By purchasing your ticket, you are giving permission for Abridged to use footage that may include you.
