The Jakarta Independent Film Festival 2024 will take place on 23 and 24 November at the Gripa Studio. With a diverse programme of 13 indie films by Indonesian and foreign filmmakers, the JIFF will celebrate independent cinema from around the world. đź“ŚAdmission is Free - First come, first served

▶️The Shadow Workers, Annelein Pompe, 47' • Belgium • 2021, cat: Best International Feature Film
The Shadow Workers is a fable documentary in which the upside-down-pigeon named Lukaku tells us the story of Usman and the Dutch Good-for-nothing. Usman works in a night shop and can only sleep during the day while the Good for Nothing works in a honey shop. Together they embody the non-stop working rhythm of the world we live in today. The bird Lukaku takes us on an anthropologic journey, reflecting on the role of dreams in the lives of these two working humans in the city of Ghent.

The night grants him a chance meeting with a weary local named Shirley, who is grappling with her own life's disappointments. Bound by the night's unfortunate events, he follows her through the city, where they must decide between facing their anxieties or being consumed by them.
