Jade the Judge is more than just a children's book—it's a powerful symbol of representation and empowerment in a field traditionally dominated by men. Kelly's own experiences inspired the creation of Jade, as she sought to provide young girls, particularly girls of color, with a role model in a profession where they are often underrepresented.
"I wrote this book to inspire brown girls of all ages to break free from the box life has drawn around them," Kelly said. "My goal is for this book to serve as motivation to pursue their dreams, no matter how daunting or scary they may seem. I also hope this book dispels myths that certain careers aren't for women and highlights the efforts required to overcome such societal obstacles."
