We have an amazing night of original live music at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) on Thursday March 26th! We have 3 bands who are all very unique will be performing on our stage for the very first time! Headlining this evening is Jacko Packo who are an Indie Rock band with a little bit of Jazz Fusion! Also performing is the Soulful Diskarte and the Funky Stankonya! The show starts at 8pm, tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door! Don’t miss out on these 3 up and coming original bands!Jacko Packo is a band comprised of young Toronto musicians playing mostly the music of Jack Johnston. Jack takes influence from bands such as Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, and Mac Demarco but also from Jazz Fusion acts such as Weather Report, the Pat Metheny Group and Joni Mitchell’s Shadows and Light band.
Diskarte is a Toronto-based band founded in 2017 by Jon Catanus. They adhere to the philosophy and definition of the Tagalog word “diskarte,” improvising sets of groovy, soulful and intense music with a keen focus on the distinct voice and style of each individual musician. Stretching from virtuosic uptempo shredding to the most simple, sincerely delivered melody, there is nothing like the way these musicians strike the perfect balance between playfulness and wholehearted commitment to the music, each other, and the audience. The band consists of Jon Catanus (drums), Caleb Klager (bass), Victor Xu (piano), and Bjorn Kriel (vibraphone).
Stankonya is an emerging four-piece band from Toronto, Canada. Fusing elements of Funk, R&B, and Contemporary Jazz, the band’s sound is a culmination of each member’s interests and influences. Their love of music and playing together creates a fun and engaging listening experience for audiences, who may only be able to express it with a face of disgust — but that’s why they’re called Stankonya.
