Jack Lohmann presents White Light, ft. Alice Maiden & Ajay Singh Chaudhary

P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Jack Lohmann to celebrate the publication of his debut book, : a mesmerizing swirl of ecology, geology, chemistry, agricultural science, investigative reporting, and the poetry of the natural world through the history of phosphate and a global mining industry that has changed our diets, our lifestyles, and the face of the planet.

Jack will be joined in conversation by Alice Maiden, the illustrator of ; and Ajay Singh Chaudhary, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. After the discussion and audience Q&A, Jack and Alice will also sign copies of .

• This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating. Doors open at 6:30pm.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jack Lohmann is a writer from Richmond, Virginia. He moved to Mongolia in 2022. is his first book.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
is an illustrator based in Brooklyn. Her full time work is in environmental and social impact in housing finance.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR
is the executive director of the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research and a core faculty member specializing in social and political theory. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics. His research focuses on social and political theory, Frankfurt School critical theory, political economy, political ecology, media, religion, and post-colonial studies. He has written for The Guardian, The Nation, The Baffler, n+1, Los Angeles Review of Books, Quartz, Social Text, Dialectical Anthropology, The Hedgehog Review, Filmmaker Magazine, and 3quarksdaily, among other venues. Ajay’s book on the politics of climate change, , was published by Repeater Books in February 2024.
