About this Event
In “The Golden Era of J-POP: Kayo-Kyoku from the Showa 1980s” Toshi Cappuccino sings Japanese POP hits in between doses of standup comedy about his life as a Japanese transplant to Manhattan. He will perform in English with a little bit of Japanese that just can’t be helped. In his 27 years in NYC, Toshi has survived random discrimination, the English language, scandal, gossip and intrigue in the local Japanese community, becoming a US citizen, and an international marriage that makes “I Love Lucy” look tame, all on the way to becoming a cabaret sensation as well as Dog Poop Sheriff of West 163rd Street. Toshi started performing in New York in 2004. Since then, his boutique performances have consistently sold out in NY and as far away as Akron, Columbus, Seattle, Honolulu, Toronto, and too many cities to list in Japan. In 2019 he was invited to perform at the Japanese Festival which is the largest one in San Paulo, Brazil. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 he sang the Japanese anthem on Opening Day at the Fukuoka Dome baseball stadium. A native of Hakata (Fukuoka), he is a combination entertainer, critic, producer, and occasional TV personality.
Don't miss my third show in Columbus!!! First two shows have sold out!
