Iztaccihuatl (2 Gate) Free Hike

Time for something real Neverwinterers!

Iztaccíhuatl is a dormant volcanic mountain in central Mexico known in Nahuatl as "The Sleeping Woman".

It's also the 3d highest peak in Mexico.

Starts at 7:30 AM

Meeting spot: in front of Monumento de "El Sereno" (Insurgentes, Chapultepec, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc)

Detailed plan:

7:30 - Meeting in front of El Sereno monument

7:45 - Departure from Insurgentes to Paso de Cortés (Tlamacaxco)

10:30 - Arriving to the trailhead

10:45 - Start hiking

14:15 - Lunch by the 1st or 2d gate

14:40 - Heading back trailhead

18:00 - Arriving back to Paso de Cortés

20:00 - Arriving to CDMX

Car: look for who is driving that day

About 18.5km (expect for full day)

Total elevation: 760m (this hike is NOT for rookies)

In case of ice or show we turn back.

Should you develop altitude sickness, you will be asked to turn back and wait for the group at the parking.

Please bring enough water and food for 9 hours.

Bring poles, winter clothes and hiking boots.

If you are unsure, bring oxygen or other boosters.

We do not recommend you to swim at lakes and rivers.
