About this Event

IZANAMI is a private performance art ceremony where haiku, noise, and Japanese rope art come together as a single immersive experience.

Rather than presenting eroticism as sexuality alone, IZANAMI explores it as the force through which life reaches toward the future.

Throughout the ceremony, guests are invited to become Marebito — visitors from another world — by wearing a traditional Japanese paper mask called Zoumen. Together, we share Kanro (a ceremonial sweet drink), read haiku, create sound, and witness the transformation of the body into a living sculpture.

Each ceremony features a different model, theme, and newly written haiku, making every gathering unique.

Beginning with this edition, IZANAMI introduces the Mythical Beings series. Through haiku, the body, and rope, two elements merge and transform into a mythical being.

The first theme is Medusa:

Hair + Snake = Medusa

It is an intimate performance art ceremony exploring the relationship between poetry, sound, the body, and human connection.

No previous experience with haiku, noise, or Japanese rope art is required. We simply invite you to experience the ceremony with an open mind.

“Without pleasure, even the life of the gods is unenviable.”
