Hey everyone,

You are all very warmly invited along to the debut staging of a few things I've written. The event also coincides with the swan song of the Genesian Theatre at its current premises on Kent Street.

I've written a one-act comedy about holding auditions in a community theatre - which I think will resonate with anyone who's been involved in community theatre.

I've also written a monologue about a postie completing the last ever postal round in a neighbour.

But that's not all - there's also a poignant monologue from a dear friend, and Genesian life-member, Roger Gimblett, as well as a biting satire from the recently deceased playwright Jack Hibberd.

You'll laugh, you'll cry... you might occasionally want to snack or use the toilets. The whole gamut of emotions!

These will be largely workshopped productions of new works - so not every design element will be on par with, say, Moulin Rouge the Musical.

Tickets are by donation on the door (recommended $15). All money raised will go towards the building costs of the Genesian Theatre's new venue at Rozelle.

7.30pm, November 15, will be an open dress performance, with the two performance dates being:

Glycerine Tears

Written in 1982, Glycerine Tears features two widows enjoying afternoon tea not long after the death of their husbands. Their deceased spouses are not spared, being the victims of their acid gossip. It is a rather surreal black comedy, full of witty but vicious repartee.
Jack Hibberd was a Melbourne-based playwright known for A Toast to Melba, The Les Darcy Show, A Stretch of the Imagination and Dimboola. He passed away at age 84 in August this year.

Death of a Mail-man

Other than advertising from the plumber and letters from the local MP, who receives any post in their letterbox anymore? In this monologue, the postal service is being wound up; and a postie reminisces about his long career.
