Cole Porter was one of the great architects of the American songbook — urbane, witty, and effortlessly stylish. His work bridged Broadway and jazz, blending sharp lyricism with unforgettable melody in classics like “Night and Day,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and “Anything Goes.” His songs remain as elegant and modern as ever — a reminder of a composer who set the standard for sophistication in popular music. This afternoon, we celebrate his timeless genius and the enduring magic of the Cole Porter songbook.About the artist:
Francesca Quinlivan is an emerging vocalist, improviser and composer based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). Steeped in the jazz tradition, her music reflects a deep respect for the genre while embracing a fresh and individual voice.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Anita O’Day, Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter, Karen Carpenter, K.D. Lang and Amy Winehouse, Frankie brings authenticity and emotional depth to her performances, with a vocal sound that is warm, crystalline and resonant. Her original compositions weave together threads of jazz, rock, pop and folk, creating a sound that is distinctly her own — expressive, textured, and timeless.
A jazz-trained vocalist from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and Monash University, Francesca has collaborated and recorded with leading Australian artists including Dr Robert Burke, Vince Jones, Nat Bartsch, Coco’s Lunch, Russell Holmes and Dr Nick Abbey. She has performed at venues and festivals across Australia, including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival, The Count’s Blues Festival and Fringe World Festival.
