The Village of Algonquin invites the community to take part in It’s Our Fox River Day on Saturday, September 19, with a volunteer cleanup near Stonegate Road and Huntington Drive.
Volunteers should meet at the Ganek Municipal Center, 2200 Harnish Drive, shortly before 9:00 a.m. The cleanup will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will focus on removing trash from the surrounding watershed before it can make its way into the Fox River. Bags and trash sticks will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes or boots, long sleeves and pants, and bring gloves if preferred.
It’s Our Fox River Day is held annually on the third Saturday of September and brings communities throughout the Fox River Watershed together to celebrate, protect and restore the river. The watershed-wide initiative is organized by Friends of the Fox River, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring and protecting the Fox River Watershed through education, research, restoration and advocacy.
