About this Event
It Takes A Village - Parent Group
Six weekly sessions, a small group of mothers, and a qualified therapist to hold the room. Come to connect, make friends, to get some useful knowledge about yourself, child development and your family's emotions, or simply because you fancy a space focused on you and your experience.
A real village isn't made up of people at exactly the same stage as you. It's made up of people who get it — who've been where you are, or are heading there, or are standing right alongside you. That's the kind of group this is. Mothers of toddlers, school-age children, teenagers: all welcome, all with something to offer each other.
The group is facilitated by a therapist with specialist training in child development and family relationships — not to turn this into therapy, but to hold the space well and bring some insight to the conversations that come up.
This might be for you if you:
- Want to meet other mothers and build some genuine friendships
- Feel like existing friendships and relationships have shifted since having children and you'd like to find your people
- Want to understand your children's behaviour and emotions — and your own reactions to them
- Are curious about the emotional side of motherhood, including the parts that catch you off guard
- Sometimes feel lonely, anxious or like you've lost a bit of yourself — and want a space where that's okay to say
What we cover
Week 1 Introduction - getting to know each other
Week 2 Who am I now? — identity shifts when you become a mother
Week 3 Emotions — our relationship to anger and sadness; both ours and our child's
Week 4 Anxiety — yours and your child's, and how they connect
Week 5 Raising kind humans — empathy, difference and inclusivity
Week 6 Screens and social lives — navigating the online world as a family
Each session starts with a check-in — a moment to arrive, settle in and share how you are. The facilitator shares around twenty minutes of practical, down-to-earth knowledge and psychological principles on that week's topic: the kind of insight that helps things make sense. The rest of the session is yours — open conversation, questions, shared experiences. That might mean swapping stories about the chaos of the week, unpicking something that's been on your mind, or simply listening and feeling less alone. You share as much or as little as you like.
£200 for all 6 sessions — less than £34 per session Places are limited to 8 to keep the group small and personal. Dates are 11 Sept 2026, 18 Sept 2026, 25 Sept 2026, 2 Oct 2026, 9 Oct 2026 & 16 Oct 2026
Pay it forward: you'll have the option to contribute towards a subsidised place for a mother who couldn't otherwise attend. Every contribution goes directly to that.
We're exploring on-site childcare for younger children during sessions — let us know at sign-up if this would make it easier for you to attend.
Not a mother, or can't make these dates? We'd love to hear from you. We're planning future groups for fathers and other parents and carers. Register your interest: Contact Organiser through Eventbrite.
