Kyle Filley is a movement artist creating this performance with his collaborators of distinct somatic backgrounds. An improvised trio with Rahul Madanhalli, Davis Saul, and Kyle begins the evening. The movers question how gender and sexuality interact with threat and verve. Following is a 1 hour section. Primarily a solo by Kyle, it also includes a duet with Tenei Nakahara and a reprise of the trio. Kyle synthesizes vivid fantasy, memories--both painful and useful--and reflections on intimacy, betrayal and self-discovery. He directs motion from initial disorientation towards re-invigorated organizations of rumbling joy and catharsis. In addition to the movement research, the performance pulls from post-modern dance, and includes singing, costume changes and live set direction.

AIM: Artists in Motion is a performing arts residency program at Spring Fall Studios. An individual or group whose residency culminates in a showcase may also invite guest artists to share the bill.
