ISU Workshop: Cultural Precinct, Central

The Institute of Sustainable Urbanisation (ISU) in association with the School of Architecture, Chinese University of Hong Kong are organizing a Smart Cultural Precinct (SCP) Workshop on Feb. 15, (6.00 pm - 8.00 pm) at H6 CONET. The event welcomes key stakeholders including residents and businesses in the area including representatives from PMQ, Tai Kwun, Central Market, URA as well as professional institutes and academia who are interested in bringing Hong Kong's culture and heritage back to life. Students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, US are currently exploring the feasibility of creating the SCP App and developing the Community and Business Improvement District (CBID) to ensure that SCP is transformed into a more pedestrian-friendly Cultural Precinct in Central.

What are the key ingredients to create a walkable Cultural Precinct with rich heritage in Central? Participants will focus on the SCP area with the Cultural Triangle with the three adaptively reused historic landmarks PMQ, Tai Kwun and Central Market at its core. The aim is to explore the feasibility of digitally connecting the precinct with the SCP APP and to discuss the potential of developing an SCP CBID. By engaging local community and key stakeholders to see how to further enhance the SCP area with the integration of cultural heritage and diverse businesses within the Cultural Precinct and make it more walkable and accessible.
